YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENTYour first visit
We allow thirty to forty-five minutes so there is time to do the job properly: full history, thorough examination of teeth, gums and soft tissues, and X-rays where they will tell us something we cannot see.
Then we talk. You will see the images on screen, we will explain what is healthy and what is not, and if treatment is needed you will get a written plan with fixed prices to take home. Nothing gets booked in the same breath as being recommended.
If the reason you have stayed away is nerves rather than time, tell us on the phone. We will give you a longer slot, go at whatever pace you set, and stop the moment you ask.
LOCAL TO YOUA practical option for a busy part of Bristol
Fishponds has a genuinely mixed population — long-standing families, private renters, students, and a growing number of first-time buyers who have moved out from Easton and St George. What unites them, dentally, is that local capacity has not kept pace with the number of people living here.
That shows up in how people book. Fishponds patients are more likely than most to arrive as an emergency first and register properly afterwards, and we have built the diary to cope with that: urgent slots held daily, and a straightforward route from a one-off appointment into regular care if you decide you want it.
Evening appointments matter here too, particularly for shift workers and for anyone commuting into the centre or out to the Ring Road. Between the late slots and the Railway Path, getting to us from Fishponds is rarely the obstacle it might look like on a map.
PERIODONTAL CAREGum treatment that stops the damage early
Bleeding gums are not normal, and they are the most common thing we pick up at a first appointment for patients who have been away from the dentist for a while. Treated early with a proper hygiene programme, gum disease is very controllable. We will show you exactly where the problem areas are and what to do about them at home between visits.
SAME-DAY SLOTSEmergency repairs, held open daily
A chipped front tooth or a filling that has come out is the kind of thing that ruins a week if you cannot get seen. We keep urgent appointments free every weekday, and Fishponds is close enough that a morning call usually turns into an afternoon appointment.
TRANSPARENT PRICINGCosts agreed before anything begins
Plenty of our Fishponds patients are budgeting carefully, and being surprised by a bill is the fastest way to put someone off dentistry for another five years. Every treatment is quoted in writing before it is booked, and larger plans can be spread over time.
NEW PATIENTSCatching up after a long gap
If it has been years, the first appointment is about information rather than intervention. We assess, explain and prioritise: what needs doing now, what can wait, and what is simply worth keeping an eye on. You leave with a plan and a clear order of work, not a lecture.
COSMETIC WORKWhitening and bonding for a first job or a big day
Composite bonding and whitening are the two treatments the younger end of Fishponds asks about most — usually before a graduation, a wedding or a new job. Both are quick, both are reversible in the sense that nothing drastic happens to the underlying tooth, and we will tell you honestly if we think you do not need them.
